- Wash all fruits thoroughly. Core and chop apples and pears into bite-sized pieces.
- If using dried cranberries, rinse them briefly under cold water.
- In a large bowl, gently combine the apples, pears, grapes, cranberries, orange segments, and pomegranate seeds.
- If desired, stir in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup (or honey) and lemon juice.
- Pour the dressing over the fruit salad and gently toss to coat evenly. Avoid overmixing to prevent bruising the fruit.
- Serve immediately for the freshest flavor, or chill in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Notes
For a festive touch, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg before serving. You can also substitute other fall fruits like figs or persimmons.
