Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 12 ounces Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
  • 1 cup Orange Juice Freshly squeezed is best!
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans or Walnuts
  • 1/4 cup Orange Zest From about 1 large orange
  • 1/4 cup Bourbon or Orange Liqueur Optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves Optional

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Method

Instructions
  1. Combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar, pecans, orange zest, bourbon (if using), and cloves (if using) in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened slightly. Stir occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely. This allows the flavors to meld.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Add a pinch more sugar if desired.
  6. Serve warm or cold with your favorite dishes such as roasted turkey, ham, pork, or even ice cream!
  7. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

For a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to puree a portion of the sauce after cooking. Feel free to experiment with different types of nuts or add a splash of Grand Marnier for an extra layer of flavor.
