- Combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar, pecans, orange zest, bourbon (if using), and cloves (if using) in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened slightly. Stir occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely. This allows the flavors to meld.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Add a pinch more sugar if desired.
- Serve warm or cold with your favorite dishes such as roasted turkey, ham, pork, or even ice cream!
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Notes
For a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to puree a portion of the sauce after cooking. Feel free to experiment with different types of nuts or add a splash of Grand Marnier for an extra layer of flavor.
