- Combine cranberries, sugars, orange juice, water, orange zest (if using), cinnamon (if using), and salt in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the cranberry sauce cool completely. This allows the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken further.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. You can add a little more sugar if desired.
- Once cooled, transfer the cranberry sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow it to fully thicken. This will also enhance the flavors.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature. Enjoy!
Notes
This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to make a larger batch. Leftover cranberry sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
