Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Add green food coloring, a few drops at a time, until you reach your desired shade of green. Mix until the color is even.
- Transfer the green dip to a Christmas tree-shaped serving bowl. Shape the dip into a cone or triangle.
- Sprinkle crushed gingersnaps around the base of the tree to represent the trunk and branches.
- Use red and yellow candy melts or sprinkles to decorate the tree like ornaments. You can pipe the melts using a ziploc bag with a small corner snipped off, or simply drizzle them on.
- Place a star-shaped cookie or candy on top of the tree.
- Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving (optional). Serve with your favorite cookies for dipping.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use peppermint extract instead of vanilla. You can also use different types of crushed cookies for the base, such as Oreos or shortbread.
