Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 16 ounce container Whipped Topping (thawed)
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Crushed Gingersnaps
  • a few drops Green Food Coloring (gel or liquid)
  • as needed Red Candy Melts or Sprinkles
  • as needed Yellow Candy Melts or Sprinkles
  • 1 Star-shaped Cookie or Candy for tree topper

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Serving Bowl or Platter
  • Ziploc Bag (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Add green food coloring, a few drops at a time, until you reach your desired shade of green. Mix until the color is even.
  4. Transfer the green dip to a Christmas tree-shaped serving bowl. Shape the dip into a cone or triangle.
  5. Sprinkle crushed gingersnaps around the base of the tree to represent the trunk and branches.
  6. Use red and yellow candy melts or sprinkles to decorate the tree like ornaments. You can pipe the melts using a ziploc bag with a small corner snipped off, or simply drizzle them on.
  7. Place a star-shaped cookie or candy on top of the tree.
  8. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving (optional). Serve with your favorite cookies for dipping.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use peppermint extract instead of vanilla. You can also use different types of crushed cookies for the base, such as Oreos or shortbread.
