  • 1 pound Breakfast Sausage Mild or spicy, your preference
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery chopped
  • 8 cups Cubed Bread day-old bread works best
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth or vegetable broth for vegetarian option
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Sage
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley chopped, optional

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the onion and celery to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sausage mixture, broth, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper, and parsley (if using). Gently toss to combine.
  5. Melt butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour the stuffing mixture into the prepared dish.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
  7. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken broth. You can also add other vegetables like chopped carrots or mushrooms. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
