  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.25 cups Milk
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil For cooking
  • 32 Chocolate chips For spider legs
  • 2 ounces Black candy melts For spider bodies

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Griddle or Frying Pan
  • Spatula
  • Small Bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Pour ΒΌ cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.
  5. While the pancakes are cooking and slightly set, place 8 chocolate chips in a circle around the edges of each pancake to form the spider's legs.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Flip carefully using a spatula.
  7. While the pancakes are still warm, use melted black candy melts to draw a small circle in the center of each pancake for the spider's body. Let the candy melt set completely.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your spooky spider pancakes!

Notes

For extra spooky fun, add a few sprinkles of red candy melts to simulate blood on the spider's body. You can also use different types of candy melts for the spider's body to create more variety!
